Cllrs Harry Grayson and Ken Moss were approached earlier this year by resident Clare Cleary who is interested in becoming a councillor for Rishton. After years of 'yelling at the television' watching programmes such as Question Time, she finally decided to get involved in politics and join the local Labour party to try and make a difference in the village.
Clare is now actively involved with the two Rishton Labour councillors and is currently campaigning for a new post box to replace the one taken from James Street late last year, plus has joined the Prospects and PACT groups. Among the issues she would like to address, Clare sees the lack of activities for younger people as a problem in Rishton and has been put in touch with Christine Hammerton of Friends of Rishton Youth (FRY). She currently works for BUPA and lives on Harwood Road with her husband, Danny.
