LANCASHIRE TELEGRAPH - 8th SEPTEMBER 2010

Cllrs Harry Grayson and Ken Moss are currently in the process of starting a press campaign to get a new pillar box installed in lower Rishton.  The wall-mounted post box on James Street was removed at the end of 2009 due to renovations at the corner property but Royal Mail are proving reluctant to provide a replacement for residents, citing lack of use and a nearby box at the Post Office.

Ken Moss organised a 400+ signatories petition and Harry Grayson has written a letter directly to the collections manager at Blackburn to request a new box but no response has been heard on either front. Margaret Stinson spoke to a senior Lancashire Telegraph reporter on 7th September to provide the viewpoint from the residents as well as the councillors' own comments.
